Fairfax
Fairfax is a lively, eclectic community west of San Rafael and San Anselmo. Though not more than 30 minutes from the Golden Gate, the town of just over 7,500 has an atmosphere of rustic charm punctuated by a fierce desire to maintain its small town spirit and artistic nature.
Known for its old movie palace, music scene, diverse restaurants, and quaint shops, Fairfax also offers an incredible array of recreational opportunities. There are miles of lush trails for bikes, horses, and hikers, in addition to tennis courts and golf courses. In the spring and summer, popular community celebrations such as the Brewfest and the Fairfax Festival attract more than just local residents.
Homes in Fairfax vary from smaller, older homes that date back to the ’40s, to striking contemporaries, with most homes enjoying the enchantment of a sylvan setting or vast sweeping views.
The small communities of Woodacre, Lagunitas and Nicasio are further west from Fairfax, in the scenic San Geronimo Valley.
